Job Opening:
Tourism Director
The primary role for Director of Tourism is managing all tourism efforts for the Hickman County Chamber of Commerce, including the management of the “Visit Centerville Tennessee” tourism program, and will work alongside the President and Executive Director. They must oversee the promotion of Hickman County as a tourist destination, the organization of tourism related events hosted by the Chamber, social media activity related to tourism in Hickman County, and creating or maintaining working relationships with businesses in this sphere.

Very comfortable and able to navigate a computer.

Basic understanding of graphic design and branding, or willing to learn.
Working knowledge of Canva, or willing to learn.

At least a basic knowledge of the following platforms and how they work: Facebook, Instagram.
Has had an account on one or more of these platforms, and/or has navigated them before.
Would be comfortable and willing to fill in knowledge gaps on how to use these platforms for promotional work.

Able to create effective plans, schedules, lists, etc., and follow through with flexibility.
Prompt, clear, and kind in communication. Comfortable on the phone. Able to communicate well in writing.
Able to multi-task.
Essential Job Functions
-
Creating content and sharing posts on Social Media regarding hospitality and tourism businesses.
Answering emails from tourism publications with information on seasonal events, experiences, and sights in Hickman County.
Filling in tourism page of monthly newsletter.

Organizing tourism related events (Meetings; workshops; Ribbon Cuttings, Grand Openings, and Groundbreaking events hosted at hospitality and tourism businesses; Chamber Business Bites Tours hosted at hospitality and tourism businesses, etc.)
Planning - Booking venues, caterers, vendors, setting dates and times, scheduling out the flow of an event, gathering volunteers, creating an event on Simpletix and Squarespace, creating vendor registration forms on JotForm, etc.
Advertising - Creating ads in Canva, posting on social media, scheduling a Facebook event, sending email blasts on Constant Contact, etc.
Day-of Management - Showing up early to set up and/or manage volunteers, meet with hosts, direct parking, greet attendees, and possibly address attendees at the beginning or end of events.

Visiting hospitality and tourism businesses. Understanding their needs, and how to meet them (i.e. initiatives to start, people they should meet, etc.).
Staying abreast and supporting initiatives related to tourism in the county.
Working Conditions

Part time: in office two 8 hr days a week, preferably Thursdays and Fridays, 8.30am to 4.30pm.

Attendance at tourism related events, training classes or tourism conferences, and Board Meetings.

Office at Centerville CoWorks.

When attending training classes or conferences, travel expenses will be covered.

Able to take calls from Executive Director on non-office days. Paid by-the-hour for time.

Attendance required if a tourism related event or meeting is scheduled on a weekend day.
